Turtle Recall Poem by Ima Ryma

A turtle was strolling alone.
He spied a gang of snails nearby.
They yelled in a threatening tone,
'We're gonna get you - big shell guy.'
The turtle tried to get away,
But the snail gang caught up with him,
Twelve hours later in the day,
And beat him sorely, scale and limb.
The next day, the snail gang had gone.
Cops found the turtle on his back.
They asked the turtle what went on,
During the snails' vicious attack.

The turtle sighed, then said at last,
'I don't know. It happened so fast.'
