Tunnel Poem by Celina Vargas

Tunnel

Rating: 5.0

Though I ran through the dark tunnel on and on, I couldn't find a light.
My eyes were straining but I still couldn't see anything bright.
I stumbled and tripped and no one stopped my fall.
I cried out in pain and pleaded, for someone to rescue me from the place.
But I saw nothing, not one face.
But then after a while, I saw someone coming, their features beautiful, and a silky voice said,
'Come with me angel.'
I started to reach for his hand when a gruff voice said,
'Don't touch her, this is my land.'
I turned and saw an old man with a beard and scarred hands that hadn't healed.
The beautiful one hissed and the old man raised his hand.
'Lucifer, we'll finish this later, for now, keep your words canned.'
I looked up at the man and saw a light in his eyes even if increased in size. He took my gently and said,
'I'll get you home sweetie.'
And I turned my back on the the beautiful one and soon I saw the brightness I was looking for- iridescent as the sun.
