Trying To Make It Big Poem by Steven Harris

Everywhere you look poeple are the same
all trying to make it big
all trying to be seen
they dont want to be hidden away
they want to be known
they want everyone to know their name
they want to have it in giant shiny lights
they want their faces everywhere
they want to walk down the street
and be stoped by a stranger
and be asked for their autograph
thats what poeple want.

They want to be something
even for nothing
just be something
they want to have something they deserve
what they believe they should have
they want their names to be mentioned around
and talked about around the town
thats what poeple want
to be known
to be admired
to be loved
to have everyone bow down to them
thats what most poeple want.

They want car doors to be opened for them
rooms to be hired out just for them
roads blocked off so they can drive down
and private jets to fly around
they dont want to have to say thank you
or yes or no
they want someone else to do the work
someone to make their bed and cook their food
they want poeple around who listen to every word they say
and agree with everyting they say
thats what poeple want
handed everything
given everything
made to look special
thats what poeple want.

You could go on and on and on
you could mention everyting that poeple want
mention everything poeple desire
it's not wrong to want this
it's fine if you want everything
it's fine if you think you deserve better
most poeple do deserve better
most poeple deserve for one day to be treated like a king or queen
but most of us wont have that
most of us will never see that
and get what we think we deserve.

So we just keep dreaming
just keep thinking
just keeping wondering
can we all be something one day
maybe we all can
maybe we all win
but that dream is just a dream
untill it happens
we will all have our eyes closed
and continue to drift into a deep deep dream.
