Truth Stings Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

Truth Stings

Rating: 3.5

We are taught by our Parents
To tell the Truth and not Lie,
But why do we often hide it?
Please do tell me why.

We want to speak Truthfully,
Honest! ~ we do! ~
But, to spare your feelings,
‘White Lies’ we tell too.

It’s not that we’re dishonest,
Or that we’ve forgot
How it feels to be lied to,
But do we care a jot?

Why say what we don’t mean?
Why tell a ‘White Lie’?
Better speak the Truth,
And be Honest ~ say I.

I’d rather hear the Truth,
If for a moment it stings,
Than not to believe
What your Word to me brings.
