Truth Poem by Rhonda Hairston

Truth

Did you let him in?
He had the biggest grin

He saw you smile
Even if just for a little while

He walked by the lady on the street
Who he was glad to meet
She spoke, he nodded; didn't seem downtrodden

Happy as can be, on his way
As he stopped and talked to the man not far away

Little children going to school
Couldn't match his style
You see, he was really cool

Everyone was happy to talk to him
Even though they would appear stunned
They never heard anyone that he shunned

Until one day, he came across Mr. Lie
He sighed and looked him in the eye

Please don't act uncouth
How are you today
My name is Mr. Truth
