Truth

Truth has no varnish
No color or costume
Yet preserves the bedrock of humanity
By her chastity

She lingers irrespective of span
Perennial in soul
Rooted to the virtuous
Untarnished by fallacy

She is retained to perpetuity
Recalled in spontaneity
For which glamor has no merit
And glow remains unworthy

Untrained by mental faculties
Uprooted by no mortal
A bastion of rock
A masterpiece of nature

Truth, the perennial virgin
Immortal and modest

Poem of the Day

poet Wilfred Owen

All sounds have been as music to my listening:
Pacific lamentations of slow bells,
The crunch of boots on blue snow rosy-glistening,
Shuffle of autumn leaves; and all farewells:
