True Love Poem by Kaylee Jasinski

True Love

Rating: 3.2

The games we played by the bonfire,
Truth or dare to be exact,
“Truth” “Dare” “truth” going around the circle,
Some of them just hysterical,
It’s all fun and games,
As a matter of fact.
“Your turn! ”
“Truth” I echoed my voice across the fire.
“Do you love him? ”
I took a long pause,
Silence,
Not even a bird,
Not even a grasshopper made a sound.
Looking into the diamonds,
That we call eyes,
Sparks flying everywhere,
The wood crackling in my ear and the suffocating smoke of the fire blew against my face.
I smirked and projected my voice,
“Yes,
I fall for you every day,
One step at a time,
I’ve been broken,
So have you,
But now,
It’s me and you.
I truly love you.
You are adorable.
From head to toe,
I hope you know that.
From your dorky smile,
To your cute laugh,
Everything.
Everything about you.
Absolutely perfection.”
Silence grew as if it were an eternity passing by.
The moment felt like years,
Slowly passing by.
The whispering people around the circle seemed like 6 year olds with something to share.
Abruptly out of the blue,
Astonished as I was,
I pushed my worries away,
Hoping that something good was going to happen.
Feeling a tender press against my cheek,
His lips feeling like satin on my flesh,
A response blew by my ear like a whistling of wind,
“I love you too”.
