Beginning between sunrise and sunset
Let our old hearts again embrace peace
And odium cease from our eyeballs
Let us invite the spirits to bear us witness
On this day we sheathe our machetes
And pledge to plant yams on fields
Where we and our fathers before us
Engaged in unprovoked battles
Let our fishermen to the rivers return
And our hunters seek real animals
Let us write down this accord in
The hearts of our peoples
That this peace will outlive us
