He lived as a humble, honorable man
Illustrious loyal son, Star of Penang
Relentless champion of Justice and Rights
Steadfast to principles, a towering legal might
Roaring Jeletong’s Tiger, otherwise, a Lion King
O’ Lord, grant eternal rest, unto thy servant, Karpal Singh

Exemplary father to his children
Exemplary leader to the nation
By the poor and needy, he was revered
In House of Parliament, he was respected
He earned friendship, far and near
To the end, he stood faithful and sincere
His bosom friends, Chen, Kit and Eng
Comrades, through thick and thin
Fought for causes they believed in
Wickedly humorous, easily forgiving
In brotherly love, groomed leadership
Steering the party with firm stewardship
Unwavering in his political ideals
Uncompromising his cultured values
Gone to rest, but his spirit survives
To raise, yet other Roaring Tigers

Michael, faithful assistant, friend,
Eyes and feet: serving till the end
For ten gracious years he loved his “boss”
Who without his faithful friend, he’s lost
Honorable Karpal sincerely loved this man
Michael in turn, love-witnessed his spiritual stand.

A nation’s stalwart leader and patriot is lost
Never again to hear him debate in the House
Who in his stead would be the voice of the throng?
Who’d stand to fight Justice and Rights, strong?
Honorable hero, you’ve paved a path to follow
You’ve etched your mark for a better tomorrow.
