Tribute To A Lasting Memory Poem by Rishi Menon

Tribute To A Lasting Memory

Tribute to a Lasting Memory

You've asked me to write for you,
Try as I might, I cannot without first reflecting…
How each day was different with you.

And as I do, I am overcome
By numbing senses; a million emotions,
Each a volume, an epoch and era…

Strong gales rocked our sojourn…
Bitter memories too
But no turbulence showed
For a level head and reasoning prevailed.

Now that you leave, unwillingly
Destiny leading you away from me
I experience, Tagore's Gitanjali

Blinded and dazed I let you move on…
Setting you free;
For what you truly want to be

Someday I will rendezvous with someone of your traits
Then feelings will wash over
Reaching up from the depths of eternity

Fare well my dear
Take courage and go yonder
And if it does matter, remember

I will always treasure you, my wild flower.
