Treasures To Keep Poem by Arlene Dery

Treasures To Keep

Rating: 5.0

A lock of hair trimmed, with ribbon so sweet,
A bouquet of flowers, pressed to keep,
The baby dolls resting, from hard play,
Sympathy cards, are with them today.

A necklace or two and a tiny ring,
Inside a box, that once would sing,
School work and cards, will never again,
Record the struggles or triumphs once penned.

Love notes to me, I cherish and keep,
How often you're missed and often I weep.
These treasures are here, that I do hold,
Your little feet walk, the streets of gold.

The angels took you, on that dark day,
And so came the Light, to shine a way,
To see you again, to long with hope,
Though grieving now and trying to cope.

In Jesus' arms, I know that you be,
He's taking good care of you and of me,
Someday we'll meet, at heaven's door,
Our pain of loss - will be no more!

Such a heavy heart holding these precious memories, a beautiful vision to cherish in the words of your poem. An absolutely heartrending poem, yet such interior strength and hope for a future tomorrow together. Thank you for sharing your grief, RoseAnn
