Treasured Memory Poem by Camilla Fodgaard

Treasured Memory

The wallpaper in the colour of parchment yellow
Surrounds my awareness
My eyes wander from wall to wall
until they stop by the soothing sound of your voice
Your finger marked with old age
points to a single picture hanging restfully on the wall I'm facing
A beautiful red vehicle clashes the colour of yellow
I'm fascinated by the vintage car
It's curves
It's colours
though I am a small child
I understand the beauty of the veteran car
and as my eyes are fixed upon this piece of art
I hear you voice and see before my inner eye
your pleasant face smile
I turn around and I see you in your cozy chair
Your lovely smile lightens up my day
brightens the room in which we are found
And that dear Granddad Brian
is the most treasured memory I have of you
and I will never let it go
