Treasure Poem by Chris Jibero

Treasure

Whether wretched or wealthy
man is best when healthy
whether full or empty
living in squalour and
starvation
man is best when sound
and kicking

Much better than a gigantic
gold nugget in a shrewd man's
vault is a sound mind
in a sound body

Better to be wretched and
healthy
than wealthy and ill
though both are ill
and none is to be courted
by a sane mortal

A pauper already is the
wealthy that wallows
in illness
but wealthy indeed is he
whose increase
are tied together with
soundness of body, spirit and soul.
