Trapped Poem by Evelyn Macdonald

Trapped

Rating: 5.0

Trapped within this aging face
I long so to be free
Reflected in the mirror
A woman, that's not me

Where's the young girl that I knew
Not so very long ago
I have to keep on searching
Till I find the one I know

The person looking back at me
I do not recognize
And yet I see resemblance
As I gaze into her eyes

I trace the lines upon her brow
The creases round her nose
I stare so long, she winks at me
And strikes a knowing pose

It's only me the face replies
A bit older, that is true
Come back and visit me again
When you're ready to be you
