Transitions Poem by Jacquelyn Gagnon

Transitions

Goodbye old friend
we knew it would end
signaled by true love
to never see you again

We held out for so long
like a beautifully slow love song
the inevidable change
a truth known all along

It was just a matter of time
before I would cross the line
and bid you farewell
you are no longer mine

It's true that I will miss you
but it was time for something new
uncharted adventures
like climbing a mountain for the view

For the rush I did strive
a wild sunday night drive
our friendships sweet end
just to be more alive

My friend I found it unfair
that you weren't there
but to be two places at once
neither of us would dare

A bitter end this is not
skys show this winter's hot
looking forward with a smile
bright futures is what I got.
