Town Talk Poem by Brandon Owens

Town Talk

Have you heard the talk this week
It's all about The Castle on the hill
They say it's Deserted and Abandoned
I think someone lives there still
It's kept up, and everything is so neat
I hear the King can't help but be envious
I laughed because I know it's better than his
I'm just a peasant, but wouldn't it be pleasant
To sit inside those walls, completely protected
But I'm not the type to go pry
These eyes of mine will stay down here
In this town that's right off the main road
The Castle is so far off the beaten path
I've always feared the unknown
I hope the owner knows the King is jealous
If he can't have The Castle
He'll probably burn it to the ground
