Toward The End Of A Fast Day I Dream Of A Poem

TOWARD THE END OF A FAST DAY I DREAM OF A POEM

Toward the end of a Fast day I dream of a poem
But hunger overrules everything
And waiting for the fast to end
Is the dominant emotion

All we experience
Is material for Poetry

Poetry is the outward expression
Of our inner life
Even when it is trivial

I dream of a poem
Lines to think about
Even when the food is over.
