Tough Poem by Danette Frenz

Tough

Times may be tough
And ever so rough,
This I will not bluff…
How can I get over losing you?
Two trees intertwined at the roots
One died and left the other alone.
To blurry to be honed, sadness sprouts have shone.
To grow alone, in an empty fallow field.
With crops to never produce a yield.
To be blown about, without your strength and shield.
I miss you still
But I guess I will
Be okay
Today and
On other days.
The tears that drip
Down my lip
Stains my shirt
All this hurt.
You’d never assert
How words, so curt
Pulled from the dirt
Slung from your hands
Does land
On this tear streaked face.
