Tom Poem by Thomas Wicker

Tom

Rating: 5.0

Tom is now a rabbit
Not hopping for there is no need to hop
He sits gazing at the clear moon
Lost in thought
Tom ponders the simplicity of a situation that he has let slip by
This was a state of affairs that could have been solved if Tom were not just a nervous rabbit
Tom is now a dog
He clings to his toys and rests in the sun
Obeys but doesn’t push any boundaries
Loyal companion but that is all
Can drink and eat when allowed
As a dog he still can only sit, wait, and ponder.
Maybe if Tom were not such an obedient dog things may have been different
Tom is now a lion
Taking what he wants
Feared but not loved
In control but not happy
Willing and able but with an outcome unplanned
Sovereign of the hunters but still hunted and alone
If Tom were not so bold would he be content with this ending
