Token Loss Poem by Kay Ryan

Token Loss

Rating: 3.9

To the dragon
any loss is total.
His rest is disrupted
if a single jewel encrusted
goblet has been stolen.
The circle of himself
in the nest of his gold
has been broken.
No loss is token.

Yes, most dragons are so mercenary, can't stop gathering and hoarding and fretting over all their ill-got gains. But not all dragons are like that- -take Puff the Magic Dragon for instance. .
