Token Child Poem by Andrew Horsey

Token Child

Token for change
Token for truth
Token to take
Token for you

You have always seemed mistaken
Treated like no one is there
Waiting for trouble, since the beginning
Understanding nowhere

We all seem to wonder
Wonder through the turmoil and disgust
You understand reason, love
Yet the token is you

Still we try, try to absorb the virtues
Through the pain and moral rust
The war outside lingers, grows

Try harder
Try if you must
Token Please

Love is the answer
Token take me home, if I am to be taken
Time will tell and fate will choose
It must.
