Today’s Stories Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Today’s Stories

Rating: 3.0

Today’s stories were written yesterday
A large chunk in the times of ignorance and naivety
Men were boys playing with the earthen soils in curiosity
Women were girls skipping ropes and clapping hands
Knowledge were both hidden and lost
In search, humanity dispersed
Men were lost during the days in toils and labour
Tilling and cultivating the earth for its fruits
Some got; most did not
Women were given away to the nights; in numbers
In exchange for fun and enjoyment
Also in partnership for procreation
Both made stories
The good, the bad and the ugly
Some elicit happiness and joy
Some scream of fear and sadness
And we tell the stories today
Tomorrow; the future and its stories
They are being written today
