Today I Am Wearing Mostly Yellow Poem by Martin O'Neill

Today I Am Wearing Mostly Yellow

Rating: 4.3

Vivid yellow ants
Scuttling, to follow
The Plan
A Design
Worked in concert
A team effort
To flesh out
Gulliver's ribs
With sinews of steel
Flesh of stone
And an eye-watering
Kaleidoscopic, heliotropic
Thixotropic skin of glass
Hurling the sun back at you as
Clouds run screaming past
Day-Night-Day
Until it is finally
Done. Dusted. Complete.
A leviathan, seemingly
Breathing, alive.
The yellow ants now
Dispersing, leaving
In dribs and drabs.
Boarding their Beetles and Fords and Pick-ups
Off to find a new Brobdingnag
The Man With The Plan
Is Content.

I like the idea of workman as yellow ants with their high visibility jackets on and I like those big words you use, but my favorite part is the way you describe time passing on the site where the movement of the sun and clouds reflect in the glass. It is such a great way to visualize time passing by. I guess that you are the content man with the plan at the end of the poem. This is a very satisfying poem to read :)

I think yellow is supposed to be cheerful. I admit this made me feel cheered up for some reason (smile) .
