To The One Who Left Poem by Olivia Estampador

To The One Who Left

Rating: 5.0

You are gone, but you're still here with me.
You're the dust, unseen in the wind, yet visible
-when the sunlight stabs you in the heart.
You are here in me, yet I'm still me
But some parts are yours sometimes.
When I look at my hands, I see yours too.
So I look away but you're everywhere.
Even when my eyes fill, I see you
-blurred but nevertheless seen.
Even if I walk away, you never leave me.
For you are the dust on my wake.
With every step you become alive, breathing again.
In a dark alley, with only the moon and stars as company
You lurk in the dark, as my shadow-always there.
You are gone and yet I feel you.
You are the burn on my face that stings.
And when I look at the reflection of myself,
It pains me even more.
With you, there is no treatment, no cure.
I have only the dust, burn, tears, shadow-memories of you.
So even if you've left to stay at wherever you are,
You are gone, but you're still here with me.
