To The Fallen In Space Poem by Danny Draper

To The Fallen In Space

Rating: 5.0

Where do you bury the dead in the sky?
Those that rose above and served us all
The elite of best, that goes beyond Earth.
Is the hope of each dawn their crosses upon lawn,
or the chorus of each sunset their place of solemn rest?
Perhaps in shooting stars so clear and so bright,
Ephemeral but precious dreams cast into the night.

Where do you honor those that flew outside the sky
Who in reaching for the unknown
To light our way afar
Beyond the Suns dim light
Returned to the dust of stars.
Oh how we mourn their tragic flight,
And the shattered lives of loved ones by their plight.
We must gain from our losses which is sadly always right,
In the knowledge that the galaxy will shine a little brighter
Into the dark and sacred night.
