To Pseudonym Users Poem by Nika McGuin

To Pseudonym Users

Rating: 2.8

to pseudonym users
I can understand
your desire for privacy
but what of your desire
to be remembered?

you may write amazing poems
but when you cease to exist
nobody will know who you are
nobody knows you personally
or even your real name

have you ever thought
that having a pseudonym
makes it nearly impossible
to leave a legacy?
with celebrities its been done
but for poets it is rare

Life is finite
let us not be afraid
to let others in
let them know who you are
see your face and know
you are more than a pseudonym
Privacy is worthless
in the afterlife

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Dedicated to Ronberge and all the other pseudonym users who were lost to the net. I wrote this in a very 'unpoet' style, In memory of Ronberge.

In defense of the unpoet

I have not a proper education
My poems escape classification
I’m not accustomed to your way
Indeed seldom find the time to write in a day
My words are straightforward, honest and sincere
Yours are refined, immodest but deceive
I adhere to no rule
I make my own: none
I have not been to school
So I write and then some
Forever unpublished
Yet always untarnished
Review this then
with pleasure or anger
I will not amend
if you will suffer
should I be remembered
I will make this my creed
To all that will hear and heed
It is this man’s opinion
That regardless of fashion
A word from the heart, every time,
Will always beat the clever rhyme.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Adeline Foster 24 February 2014

Of course you have your own reason for your opinion but: I am sure that John Wayne and Marylyn Monroe would not agree with you nor would I. In fact, there are thousands who have become famous only because of a pseudonym. Read mine - Who Am I - Adeline
