To My Parents Dear… Poem by Dr John Celes

Oh, what a lovely pair, they were
In Holy Matrimony!
They delivered such love and care
To every child and family.

In fifty years and more of married life,
For sake of Jesus Christ, they toiled on earth;
And God was always beside them in strife,
In days of woes, tribulations and mirth.

Their example stood tall in people’s eyes;
They reared their children very well,
And kept them from all kinds of vice;
They turned to heaven what seemed hell!

Such dedication, rarely we now see;
They lived up to a ripe old age;
They nursed each child in malady;
They writ their lives in golden page.

We thank God for such parents nice;
We try to emulate the pair;
For love they showed, we have no price;
We pray God for their souls’ welfare!
On their wedding anniversary
