To My Memory Not Forgotten Poem by Amanda Deupree

To My Memory Not Forgotten

To hear your heart once more
Instead of crying behind this door
Someday, someday, I say again
But where, oh where, to begin

Slowly awaiting another time
Yet I’m entwined in your rhyme
Denying me with steady knife
You care not for me or life

Loving you till my last breath
Stuck in heart and soul till death
A lover’s burden too high the fee
You know you have imprisoned me

Awaiting you to tell the truth
Memories-lost days of youth
You are my longing care
You are my cross to bare

While my choices are rejected
Your life is not affected
While you smile with delight
It’s my head that hangs at night

You think that you’re so smart
Leave the pain that plagues my heart
This child that’s not begotten
To my memory not forgotten
