To My Dad Poem by Megan Anderton

To My Dad

Rating: 5.0

By Megan Anderton

Today is a day too remember you by
Not because you’ve died
Because you were my father in the living
The one I loved and looked up to for centuries
After centuries

Knowing you were sick and worn out
Like a helpless infant
Too late to be given a soothing bath
Not having a light to guide you through hells lies
Forgive me for all the sadness and sorrow
I bestowed upon you before death
Causing you to erupt in the passing cycle
When I should have been holding your hand
Spending my minutes with your last

I was in fear, denial, selfish, angered by what
The monster inside you was doing
Despising death, as the world does
Broken into pieces eternally
When I found out you were fading away
A little more day by day by day

My heart lays in the depths of the earth
Tears of joy and sadness fill my mystical eyes
Happy for you too be in peace again

Sad I’ll never become, what I’ll become
Without you here showing your approval
Saying how proud you are of my life future
Wishing life’s ways didn’t have too end the way yours did
I will love you till the ends of the earth
I miss you beyond what life can say or do
You’re my hero and savior from life’s troubles
Eternally
