To Age With Grace Poem by Edwina Reizer

To Age With Grace

Let my birthday candles
glimmer in the dark.
As another year comes upon me
let me feel their spark
to face unafraid
my future days
that show up one by one,
whether they're lined with cloudy days
or shiny like the sun.

Each year that brings me closer
to that designated time,
the candles flicker softer
to let me know that I'm
closer to my God
than I've ever been.
So I blow out the candles once again
and take a new breath in.
