To Adapt Poem by Cigeng Zhang

To Adapt

We have the wounds
So, love the sunray to caress
We run into the haze
So, love the hard wind to blow
We love you
So we long for you
Oh you come, you've come
Not because you love us
Just because, you pass
through, only by chance?

Placed right in the center of this poem is the key sentence WE LOVE YOU. All we know about the WE and the YOU is ther stark difference in their degree of LOVE. WE love unconditionally, WE love with our whole bring. WE love from the center of our being, that is the heart. While for YOU none of this true. YOU did not come to us, YOU did not long for us, YOU do not live for us. The contrast is stark, and makes us sad to an unparelleled degree. But what can we do except take the degree of love available and live with a great emptiness at the center of our being. This a poem of deep emotion, so truly and sincerely expressed, with not a trace of sewntimentality or overstatement, just the heart's truth expressed so that other hearts can comprehend it. It is a poem of our essential shared humanity.
