To A Nightingale Poem by Phillip White

To A Nightingale

Nightingale,
Ghost of the moonlight,
Guardian of the night sky,
Lift thy wings and fly,
Into the dark fog of the night,
Leave no trace behind,
Nightingale,
Emperor of the dusk,
Shadow in the darkness,
Thine eyes harness,
The cold, black night, thy must,
Be a dream, Thy must be,
A shiver, I turn so pale,
In fear of the Nightingale.
