To A Man Of Many ',000s Of Poems

One puts down
one after another
of one's poems.

By that putting down,
that work,
one detaches oneself
from those poems.

Had one not put down those poems
would one be still attached,
are non-poets therefore most attached,
and poets,
on the way to total detachment?

You live up to your own ideas on being prolific in poetry. This does not come easy to me.

Oooh there has to be more than a degree of truth in this incisive write. Once written the emotion is earthed like wayward electricity and new emotions spark and need attention and once lightning has struck it has been detached. It may remain to be appreciated but it has left, head and hand. However some agonies over poems for years tinkering with perfection trying to recall the flash of the initial spark, the merits of which may be dubious.

Ha, ha, ha....good questions and very relevant...a question we should all ask ourselves as writer-poets....my own attitude is this - once I've presented the poem to the public, I'm quite dead to the poem...

Very incisive write on how some critique a poetry work. Usually those who rate and bash a poem/poet do not really have a solid background on what poetry really is, so we who write must take these wannabe's in stride and their comments not regarded seriously. However, there are groups of real poets and writers who respect the art enough to express appreciation, balanced evaluation, and accord silence to the work where the need arises. One can easily gauge whether the commenter is a prankster needing attention or a serious writer thoroughly digesting the work.
