To A Daughter Sleeping Poem by Susy Evelyne

To A Daughter Sleeping

Rating: 4.7

Like Saddleback
is your young back

Or some other long hill
as you lie still

Peacefully sleeping,
soft daylight sweeping

Down contoured folds
of the blanket that holds

You - dreaming late, unknowing
the new day's busy ebbing and flowing

A beautiful poem that I would love to read when I see my granddaughter Anayah sleeping. Loved the fourth and the fifth couplets particularly.

Short, but very readable, and sweet. I like the imagery.

I shall think of this poem each time my daughters sleep late at the weekend. This is a lovely poem for parents. Well done.
