Tk Was My Friend Poem by Emma Beverage

Tk Was My Friend

TK Was My Friend
When I was young and too shy to talk
TK took me under her wing, and that girl taught
This shy country girl many, many things.
Although she was younger than I
She was smarter and not a bit shy.
TK was my friend.

She knew how to party, She could really entertain
She was quite charming, back when we knew everything.
I drove the country roads while TK became the bartender.
She made Bloody Mary’s that ate the world!
She made life exciting for this shy country girl.
TK was my friend.

That was before it was against the law
To drink and drive, and that was all
We could find to entertain us.
We drank and we survived, no big fuss.
She took me to parties, broadened my horizons.
TK was my friend.

We cut our thumbs and mixed our blood,
Vowed to be friends, until the end.
Then came the day, that I moved away.
Once in awhile we would reconnect, briefly.
Reminisce and note that time was moving so swiftly.
TK was my friend.

TK again has taken the lead.
Now she has the answers to “Great Mystery”.
I know that is the way she would want it to be.
Now she will be able to greet all her friends.
Showing them around will be, right down her alley!
TK was my friend.

When my time comes to leave this world behind
It will not surprise me at all to find
TK there to greet me one more time.
I expect that she will be eager to show me the way
Just like she did back in our youthful yesterday.
Until then, may God Bless my friend.
TK was my friend.
