Timing Lights Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Timing Lights

Timing traffic lights jus so, late at night, trying
to get through the city in as short a time as possible.

Praying for a green light, so I can go faster, yet at
times praying for a red light so I can write some more
poetry as ideas fill my head.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Daniel Brick 10 October 2014

Ironically, this continues the experience of light/darkness of the first two poems I read tonight, But they dealt with natural light and darkness, and the illumination of the world. This light is not about illuminating things, but controlling their movement so they don't bang into each other at intersections. It's about giving up some freedom of movement for the sake of safety. It's about the consequences of civilization - the crowding of people into the cities. necessitating more control
