Times Past Poem by Jasmine Fafanyo Awagah

Times Past

Times past
I wish I had them by me
Dice I cast
I wish I could withdraw completely
We rushed, we moved too fast
It’s not that I never loved you really
It’s still the same me in those times
It is still the same you definitely
But I have grown to face the tides
And you have grown to enjoy their beauty
They taught us what it really was
But I can’t deny that thoughts of you in my mind are not rare delicacies
Time past are past but the mirror always reflects
I wish times past would really mean PAST!

Times past
I used to hold you so close
You used to be jealous when they got close
But the way you stand to do that
I loved that pose
We used to talk and stay awake all night like bats
We were flying in love above those
It hurts to know we never fell in love like that
It’s not that I never loved you in my quotes
They were for but why, we were dreaming as lions but cats
There were moments we smiled and sang as duos
Our hearts could not stand the storm as much as we thought
So our love hats were blown away and tow
As though we thought we were in love our heads were naked but fat
Filling in the hole ahead, we could have prevented this cold
But times past we were blind to realise that
Love is on top like father
And our infatuations was down like mother
But in times past it was pleasure
In it, the pain of remembering times past is to me treasure
Of the friend I had, Times past

Times past
We loved each other
Times present we love another
Me not you and you not me
But when we remember times past
It sparks
I now understand why grown responsible husbands
Cheat on faithful wives
And faithful wives remember times past with past boyfriends
We all stick to the philosophy of don’t live in the past
But we are hypocrites and wise
To motivate forgetting times past whilst they don’t really go
I am in love today but times past always glow
I am bold enough to stand and tell the world
Don’t trust to expect too much from my words
I don’t trust me because I can’t stop times past
But I would try my best to love you
Even though I have the records of times past
Help me forget
Love me more than she did
And Times past will be the baby, you the mother
I pray our times don’t ever really past.
