Timeless Poem by G J Salgado

Timeless

I reached for the door that stared closed at me,
Time stood still as I waited,
I wondered who it might be,
The identity of this being that I created.

Who was trapped upon the other side?
Was this person or thing anything like me?
Should I run away and hide?
Who was this alluring entity?

Will her features have my traits?
Or could he have a heart like mine?
Will he choose my fate?
Does it hold the hands of time?

This creature of the night,
Continues to haunt me,
Now I must expose it to the light,
So that I may see.

Who or what it is that awakens me,
From a distant sleep,
I waited as all I heard was my own heart beat,
It had awakened me from a far place in the deep.

I opened the door as I stood still,
Did this make me ignorant or bold and brave?
Shall I turn back at my own free will?
Who was this being that I wanted to crave?

A rose that led me there,
Scents of flesh and human blood,
My home a place I am forced to share,
Withering and lingering upon where I stood.

Touch it I would not dare,
Could this be my lost Valentine?
I recognized the one that stared.
Soon everything was erased by the hands of time.

Standing staring face to face,
How could I forget this one soon to be mine,
Wretched like me in a strange but content place,
For she was a legend of her own time...
