Time To Adjust Poem by Tracia Love Shalom

Time To Adjust

Closer than you imagine
Can you feel my warmth
Like an object caught on fire
And the flame brightly burning

You think that you can read me
Based on all you see
With your emotions running deeper
The things you just can’t change

Your heart has its reasons
While your mind makes the excuses
Like the ocean whispering from the seashell
Your heart crying out for me

Time to face the music
As the rain keeps on falling
Your ego and your pride
Always getting in the way

In search of the truth
Direction of the wind
The choice you were given
Try adjusting your self

Don’t take life for granted
Appreciate all you’ve got
Quit being so judgemental
Cause it isn’t always about you
