Time Is Missing Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Time Is Missing

Rating: 2.7

Time turned missing last week;
not suspended-
disappeared and gone.

It is clear
it will not be returning,
because there was a note.

'I have been with you
for your
First Eternity
and now
I must leave.'
it said.

The mourners tried to gather
but could not agree upon a time.

Fate, History, Judges
all sat on the side of the road weeping.

There was no TV.

Marriages, appointments, deaths, births
and taxes
all suspended.

The Captains of Industry
and the Titans of War

complained bitterly that
profit-making was impossible
and that the tanks didn't work.

But, the ones who were happiest
were the Lovers.

Timelessness was their friend
They sat quietly not-counting the days.

There were crude sun dials made,
and chips carved into walls but what would be
the interval?
No one could agree.

Still each group started to create their own
time
each cocooned and holidays all changed
birthdays, anniversaries and memories
ranged the range of possibility.

Still the Lovers Loved
the Time given them.

I think I am own their side.
