Time Goes By

Rating: 5.0

Pleasent dreams peaceful minds,
dreaming of once 'upon a time.
Time goes by so slowly, so quick,
by the time you notice your walking with a stick.
Not knowing that your youth is all spent,
your get up and go, has got up and went.
Now your ears in a drawer, your teeth in a cup,
your eyes on the table till you wake up.
When you were young you danced the night through,
but walking a few steps, now turns your face blue.
Old age is golden, or so you are told,
the not knowing of life or how it unfolds.
Getting up each morning, you dust off your witts
and pick up the paper and read the obits.
If your name is not there you know your not dead,
but it then gets you thinking of Carey, Rob and Fred.
Of Alice, Eric and Netta too,
of Jimmy, Vern and the dog Blue.
Flo, Harold, Mum and Dad,
you think of the life that you once had.
Dreaming of when you'll see them once more,
when you go knocking on heavens door.
Now that time has finally come,
when you went nan, so did the sun.
Now it's my turn to dream too,
and think of when i'll meet up with you.
Pleasent dreams, peaceful minds,
now i'm constantly thinking of once upon a time.
The memories i have i'll cherish forever,
Because i know one day nan, we will be together
