Til We Meet Again, Or Not Poem by bob eichen

Til We Meet Again, Or Not

I'm old!
I'm tired!
I'm sick!
and
I'm in PAIN!
So
I've decided to explore the realms of the afterlife
or
Enjoy the peaceful rest of nonexistence
Please don't make me linger here against my will
and
Don't make me commit violence against myself
Please give me the dignity you would give your sick cat or dog
View my departure as an act of conservation, no more resources wasted on someone who's through.
In the great scheme of the cosmos, the loss of one human life is totally insignificant.
My religious beliefs don't include punishment for early departure.
Although you pretend to know what's next, you really don't.
Please don't make me SUBMIT to your beliefs
Allow me to make my own choices.
That said,
Fare Well!
Until we meet again
or
Not
