Tiger Count Poem by Ima Ryma

Tiger Count

Tigers are an endangered group.
How endangered, humans need know.
So humans wonder how best snoop
To count the tigers come and go.
Counting footprints is now hi tech.
A camera a pic can take
Of each footprint to get a check
For each tiger I.D. to make.
But human hunters follow tracks.
They are tigers' Achilles heels.
Leading the path to kill attacks.
The hunt, not count, has more appeals.

Some humans will keep counting on
Till all tiger footprints are gone.
