Ticking Over Poem by Yvonne Rautenbach

Ticking Over

Peaceful living like a clock..I think I'd like the ticking
Tick for things which are so right and wholesome as a chicken
Sunday roast and buttered toast and picking out the weeds
Chats about the runner beans and keeping to the deeds
Summer sipping at the back without a drunken binge
Respectfully the grandkids play and gathered when they whinge
Peaceful living like a clock it's nice to hear the ticking
Tick for things which calm the night and sleep instead of sicken
