Thunder Stroke Poem by Gert Strydom

Thunder Stroke

Outside the office
suddenly a thunderbolt smashed down blue-white,
splitting a tree with bird nests,
blue-white fiery tongues hissed and danced
when it perfectly cleft it from the top
in into the ground, right up to the roots
with weavers that were chattering and cursing.
