Three Times Overwhelmed Poem by David Lovell

Three Times Overwhelmed

There was a day I was burdened on every side
I said in mine heart, The Lord will not provide
Yet I remembered the folly of Israel's ungratefulness
I ceased my folly like unto asking can God provide a table in the wilderness
As the day continued so yet did mounting of problems and discouragement
I found a quiet place to pray, thanking God for all that was good, and left content
Still I was pressed upon, I grew weary, my heart was weighted with sorrow
I went to pray and give thanks again, but though I was grateful, my spirit was low
My heart lifted praise unto the Lord, yet was I sore vexed, grief covered me like a glove
Then I recalled the one thing larger than all of life's problems, a thing far too great for me
My heart rejoices and my soul shouts at this: God's unconditional and boundless love
