Three Decades Poem by Anurag Talukdar

Three Decades

You are an elusive dream,
Oblivion to the pain I endure.
You melt into eternity,
Every time I open my eyes to touch you.

You are a song from the distant hills,
Indistinct but persistent.
I may walk into those green hills,
To remain trapped within the labyrinths beneath.

Labyrinths in my dreams,
Dreams devouring my soul,
My soul lost to thee,
Three decades ago.

Today I stand defeated,
As the whole world ridicules me.
I don't need your sympathies,
Just your acceptance.

Shove a dagger deep into my heart,
Let me die anyway.
Tired of you eluding me,
Let me embrace you in my death.
