Thoughts Poem by Dr John Celes

Thoughts

How lust can bring a man to bite the dust!
How pride can ride airy wingless horses!
How sacred knots untie by unchaste tries!
How threads of life get snapped by alcohol!

The modern world gets joy from sinfulness;
The modern youth loves disobedience;
The modern job pays high for mere rubbish;
The modern dress looks glamorous and scant.

Corruption comes in many forms and traits;
Love is a weapon rusted in much vice;
Peace is elusive; war, you can't avoid;
God and conscience stay neglected these days.

Hatred replaces love of neighbours all;
Wars of every kind are being fought;
Avenging brings delight to offenders;
More heinous crimes are on the upward trend.

The world needs lasting peace and brotherhood;
The world needs food, shelter, security;
The world needs dialogues, not futile wars;
The world needs unity and love of life!
