Though Not Seen As Successful Poem by Francis Duggan

Though Not Seen As Successful

Though not seen as successful and fame i have not won
I did have a good innings when all is said and done
I had a happy childhood and i enjoyed my prime
But the clock keeps ticking on my life and I'm running out of time,
My better days behind me and what has gone is gone
Time does not wait for anyone it keeps on ticking on
The schoolboy of the fifties is the ageing man of today
And when one turns sixty old age is not far away
Life is not meant to be easy as some are known to say
And for every mistake we do make there is a price to pay
I too have made some mistakes and i too have known despair
And like many when the going gets tough i merely hang in there
And though not seen as successful that does not worry me
Since amongst the unsuccessful I'm not short of company.
