Those With Similar Beliefs Poem by Francis Duggan

Those With Similar Beliefs

If you are a peace loving person one who loves war can't be your mate
To those with similar beliefs we always do gravitate
To those with similar beliefs much in common we share
Those with different ideas and politics as good friends are quite rare.

Those you pal around with say more of you than words can ever say
We gravitate to those with similar beliefs 'tis always been that way
Even those with common sporting interests to each other can relate
Similar interests transcend Nationality and Town, City or State.

A person who loves horse racing be it woman or man
Does not have much in common with an ardent football fan
Their sporting interests are different they don't talk the same talk
One might say they are different as different as cheese and chalk.

In politics, religion, sports, literature, music or arts or
whatever you like best
We always seem to make a friend of those who share our interest
And to those who hold similar views to us we always gravitate
The war person to the peace person will never become a mate
